In an effort to attract new members into the sport and the club, WSKC has again entered an arrangement with Cambuslang Karting as our ARK’s school, to organise and manage a yearlong initiative to provide instruction, safety and race equipment to sample our sport on the full race circuit. Iain Brown will be running taster sessions throughout the year in an attempt to encourage those interested in our sport to really see if they do enjoy and wish to further their participation.
The committee have agreed a grant of £1000.00 to Cambuslang Karting to assist with the set up costs and we understand this is being used to purchase a cadet kart, so that this class can be demonstrated to the younger drivers. We have also provided the tyre containers as a location for Let’s Go Karting assembly and instruction and are extremely grateful for the support and sponsorship of Seamus Shields of Advance Construction Scotland and Joe McNamee of Linear Contracts in fitting out the containers to make them a more welcoming venue. The use of the containers by LGK means that the units can no longer be hired for “under cover space” and we apologise that this facility has had to be withdrawn.
To make this arrangement work it is necessary to get people through the door, so if your friends, school friends, work colleagues have always wanted to try now is the opportunity. Get the word out to all, pass them Iain’s contact details and let’s grow the club for bigger and better racing in all classes. Iain can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org and will take reservations for the sessions he is organising.
