Weather defeats the Opening Race Weekend of 2017

Although waiting until the last minute the lack of entries, probably due to the impending bad weather, has caused the decision to cancel the Opening Meeting of 2017.

Chairman Bill McDonald said “We tried to leave it until the eleventh hour to make our decision, but all the forecasts were pointing to a snowy end to the week. The fact that we only had two entries by Monday morning prior to the meeting indicated that most members did not want to risk making the journey.” He went on to say that “ … we felt that it was better to let members know so that they could make their plans. I asked our treasurer, Rod Taylor, to mail all our members.”

Although 2017 memberships have been coming in thick and fast there was a problem contacting those who had not yet renewed, so an emailing service was used to reach all 2016 registrations and it was hoped that nobody will set off expecting to race.

Bill concluded by saying “We are still hoping for the track to thaw so members can get out for practice and the membership desk will be open both Saturday and Sunday as previously announce although it may close around 11.30 if weather is not good. He urged folk to consult the web site and social media for the latest situation.”

WSKC are looking forward to a packed program of events during 2017 including visits from several major championships, The ASKC Scottish championships and the growing “Larkhall Go Kart Club” who will be organising a few non MSA events at the venue. See elsewhere on this site for more details.
