A message to all from West of Scotland Kart Club.

We hope you are all keeping safe and as busy as possible with those home chores you never get completed as you are always at the track normally. We know you will be itching to get back to the track and get back to the sport we all love soon.

Today the committee had an online video committee meeting to discuss various matters at the club and future planning for the Championship Season and practice.

We, like you all would love to be on track tomorrow with COVID-19 all being a bad dream, however the damage this has done to society and families up and down the UK is very real, from reviewing the statements from the Scottish Government who set the laws which we must follow and the intended provisional plan of the Prime Minister for England, we believe from our understanding the earliest we will likely be able to open would be the Weekend 6th of June if Scotland’s government follows the plan set out by Boris, however this is by no means a set date and things will continue to adapt and change and we will keep you updated as best we can. We also need to ensure our volunteers have suitable PPE available and that we can implement any requirements for social distancing once announced nearer the time prior to being able to open.

We have 2 plans for restarting our Racing season depending on when Motorsport UK decide permits can be issued and when the governments deem it safe enough to do so. At present these plans continue to honour the 6 rounds of the Championship running into December, these plans are however provisional and subject to change, we will issue these to members once we are given the green light to do so by the government, we also require to adjust our Championship Regulations to take into account COVID-19’s impact on the season and changes will be communicated once finalised.

In the next 7 to 10 days a communication will be issued to members to update them on member matters and how COVID-19 impacts us.

We hope you understand we cant go into specifics, dates etc.. at this time, the situation with the current COVID-19 Pandemic continues to mean no plans can be finalised for the time being.

The main thing for us as a committee and club however is that you are all keeping safe, following guidelines which in turn is protecting our NHS, key workers and the services we rely on daily.

We hope to see you on track soon, when safe to do so.

Our 2023 information will be released soon.
